Chief Judge, Cobb County Superior Court

Background & Education:


Judge A. Gregory Poole is a lifelong resident of Marietta, Georgia. He earned his bachelor's degree in European History from Presbyterian College in 1982 and obtained his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1985. 


Legal & Judicial Career:


  • 1985–2003: Practiced law at Dupree, Poole & King, focusing on general practice and criminal cases.
     
  • 2003–2012: Served as a judge on the Cobb County Juvenile Court, where he emphasized preserving families and teaching accountability to young people.
     
  • 2013–Present: Elected to the Cobb County Superior Court in July 2012 and took office on January 1, 2013. He was appointed Chief Judge of the Cobb Judicial Circuit in January 2023.
     

Community Involvement & Recognition:
Judge Poole has been actively involved in various legal and community organizations, including the State Bar of Georgia, Cobb County Bar Association, Cobb Justice Foundation
and Board of Directors, Marietta Schools Foundation.
 

Personal Life:
Judge Poole resides in Marietta with his wife, Lucia, who teaches advanced math at Harrison High School. They have five children and are members of Marietta First United Methodist Church.
